I remember investing in Hasbro in 2021. It was one of my biggest investment mistakes.
I did it by following a Coattail Investing approach with Alta Fox Capital’s activist campaign. I conducted my due diligence, but I didn’t account for the management’s power to block those changes, which ultimately allowed them to defeat Alta Fox.
It’s a solid company, and its Dungeons & Dragons and Magic assets hold significant value, but without catalysts to unlock that potential, I find it hard to invest in it.
I no longer follow the stock, so I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I owned Hasbro back then as well. Management has completely changed since then FYI, but I also made a mistake with Hasbro - I had a thesis that it would be a good long term hold based on a turnaround and proper management of their IP portfolio which previous management never was able to do. I don't know about the current management either, and I think they'll never be able to pull off the full vision for what I think they could pull off, but that's why I've traded out of it as a long term investment. I still follow the company pretty closely and have been looking for an opportunity to open up a trade.
